Vickie began her career in emergency services, working in the Ambulance Service, where she developed critical skills in high-pressure environments. In the early 2000s, she made the decision to shift her focus to aged care, enrolling in an Individual Support certificate to work as a personal care worker. This decision, she says, was one of the best she ever made, as it ignited a deep passion for supporting the elderly and those requiring specialised care.
Building on this foundation, Vickie went on to complete her Enrolled Nursing qualification and later her Registered Nursing degree. She also pursued further education in Rural and Remote Nursing, driven by a desire to expand her expertise and provide care in underserved communities. With a commitment to teaching and mentoring the next generation of healthcare professionals, Vickie earned her TAE (Training and Assessment) qualification 11 years ago and has since trained Advanced Enrolled Nurses, Diploma of Nursing students, and individuals in the VETiS sector.
For the past six years, Vickie has been employed with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation (ANMF) in South Australia, where she works as an Educator with the ANMEC team. In addition to this role, she is responsible for providing Clinical Education for the SA Ambulance Service, training new Ambulance Officers, and continuing her practice as both a nurse and an ambulance officer. This dual role allows Vickie to remain closely connected to frontline care while sharing her knowledge with others.
Vickie is deeply committed to ensuring that older citizens receive the highest standard of care and support, believing it is a privilege to be a part of their journey. Her dedication to aged care and her ongoing support for vulnerable members of the community reflects her passion for empowering individuals to live well and thrive in their later years. As a member of the Board of Directors at Malex Care, Vickie brings her wealth of practical experience, expertise in education, and unwavering dedication to improving outcomes for the elderly and vulnerable to help guide the organisation’s mission.
Vickie’s holistic approach to healthcare, combining hands-on practice with a strong commitment to education and advocacy, makes her a valued member of the Malex Care Board. Her insights and leadership continue to contribute to the organisation’s efforts in providing compassionate, person-centred care that prioritises the well-being of every individual.
