Chanmakara (Mak) Sun has an extensive career working in Operational Leadership roles across the Aged Care, Disability, Community and Acute Health Care sectors. This has equipped him with a unique and valuable set of strategic skills and knowledge specializing in care for people aged 65 years and above.
Mak works as Nurse Educator at Australian Nursing and Midwifery Education Centre and clinical facilitator at Flinders University. This is to ensure the quality of standards remain intact within the Nursing industry.
He worked as a Clinical Nurse at a large metropolitan hospital in the Geriatric Evaluation and Management Unit where he coordinates patient flow from Emergency Department, Short Stay Medical Unit and other units by reviewing and admitting into the program. Prior to working at the hospital, he worked at a residential care facility as a Personal Carer as well as working in a leadership role as a Clinical Nurse. He was substantially involved in the successful accreditation cycle within the Aged Care Facility.
Mak has worked in the Disability SA, Emergency After Hours Service as a Coordinator to provide direct assistances to clients, their families and/or carer in crisis within the general community. Assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of crisis responses were key components of this Coordinator role.
Mak has completed a Bachelor of Nursing in 2013, Graduate Certificate in Applied Gerontology in 2016 and Certificate IV in Training and Assessment in 2015.
As a strong advocate for consumer rights, Mak also is a strong advocate for workers’ rights and was a respected member of council at the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation in South Australia.
