About Us

At the heart of Malex Care are two founders whose personal and professional experiences have shaped their unwavering commitment to providing compassionate, person-centred care. The vision for Malex Care was born out of a simple yet powerful idea: to create an organisation that could genuinely deliver the quality of care it promised.
Mak and Alex are passionate advocates for individuals in vulnerable and underrepresented communities, including First Nations People, individuals from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) backgrounds, and the LGBTQIA+ community.
Driven by a shared commitment to social justice and inclusion, they founded Malex Care as a charity with a clear mission: to provide dedicated support, advocacy, and resources to those who need it most. This meant that they could not only offer essential support services but also actively engage in fundraising and advocacy efforts to bring about meaningful, lasting change.

Alex Topalian

Founder and Chairman

For Alex Topalian, a pivotal moment in his life came when his mum was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. Experiencing first-hand the challenges and complexities of being an unpaid carer gave him a profound insight into the difficulties that many families face when supporting a loved one. Alex’s career has been driven by a dedication to improving the lives of those who’s difficulties often go unseen – unpaid carers, individuals living with disabilities, and families navigating complex challenges.

Mak Sun

Founder and CEO

With a diverse background spanning both the private and public health sectors, Mak has worked extensively in hospitals and aged care facilities, gaining invaluable insight into challenges faced by care recipients and carers. Throughout his career, Mak found that there were gaps in service provision and unmet needs within the healthcare and caregiving sectors. This experience motivated him to establish an organisation where he could bring positive change and contribute meaningfully to his clients and the community.
